Umbraco Web Development

Domani Digital has been building sites and online applications on the Microsoft platform for over 15 years. For most of this time we had used our own proprietary CMS that allowed us the flexibility and efficiency to create sites without compromise.

With the maturity and advancement of open source software and the communities that have been built around them much of the advantages of a proprietary system have been eroded. In fact customers now know to avoid these types of systems as they lock you in to a supplier.

After researching hundreds of CMS systems, Domani Digital have chosen to use two systems for very different reasons.

For our smaller sites we are using WordPress. This is a full-featured and easy to use system and unsurprisingly the most common CMS used in the world. Originally intended for small business but has now grown to be an effective choice for larger businesses as well.

For our larger sites that require more flexibility, scale and robustness we have chosen umbraco.

Umbraco is an open-source, full-featured web content management system built on the Microsoft .NET platform. It is easy to use, simple to customise and robust enough to run sites for some of the largest companies in the world. In fact there are currently over 100,000 active installations of umbraco.

Umbraco is easily extendable using .NET controls and APIs allowing complete customisation and flexibility.

There is no design compromise required when building umbraco sites.

The CMS interface is very easy to use with a tree-view of pages and WYSIWYG editor.

Umbraco is strongly supported by both an active community of users around the world and by a solid commercial organisation providing professional support and tools. There are many third party companies building tools and add-ons to further enhance the software.

We believe the benefits of umbraco make it the first choice for serious websites.

  • Flexible, scalable, robust and reliable
  • Cost effective, open source software
  • Fast time to market
  • Very easy to use content management system
